The documentary “Collision” features prominent atheist, political journalist and author Christopher Hitchens who has written “God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything”, debating with Pastor Douglas Wilson, who is also an author and evangelical theologian. Their views collide completely as Hitchens and Wilson cleverly argue the most timeless question of all, “Is Religion Good For The World?”. They are proving to be well matched intellectuals as they discuss the philosophical subjects.

The co-operation between Hitchens and Wilson began in 2007 after Hitchens had invited anyone to debate his views on his book God Is Not Great. Wilson’s agent heard the offer and soon after Wilson contacted Hitchens. That led to a series of written debates published in Christianity Today magazine. Eventually filmmaker Darren Doane proposed they make a film covering the same topics.

Christopher Hitchens (1949-2011) was an Anglo-American author and journalist with a career of more than four decades. His aggressive style of debate gained him respect from some quarters but also controversy from others. He has attended several debates such as God on Trial and Does God Exist?.

Douglas Wilson (born 1953) is a conservative Reformed and evangelical theologian and pastor at the Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho. He is also a faculty member at New Saint Andrews College, and an active author and speaker.

Darren Doane, the filmmaker, commented: “These guys ended up at the bar laughing, joking, and drinking. There were so many things that they had in common… Opinions on history and politics, literature and poetry. They agreed on so many things, except on the existence of God.”
