Does God Exist?

Does God Exist?

William Lane Craig and Christopher Hitchens were pitted against each other at Biola University to debate the question of God’s existence. Views and worlds apart they debated the matter of god in front of an overflow crowd and a global internet audience. They talked through subjects such as the origin and design of the universe, the deity of Jesus, the implications of human morality, and the validity of Christ’s resurrection.

“Does God Exist?”, the name of the debate and dvd, was recorded as a double DVD set capturing every moment of the debate. Bonus features also include the pre-debate press conference, interviews with Hitchens and Craig and a Q-and-A session.

Hitchens (1949-2011) was best known as a controversial writer and fervent atheist. He was an Anglo-American author and journalist with a career spanning more than four decades. He was also listed by Forbes magazine as one of the “top 25 most influential liberals in the U.S. media” in 2009. His books mainly dealt with subjects such as religion and politics. His debating skills were applauded by many but he was also seen as a controversial figure by some. He attended other debates as well for instance Collision and God On Trial.

Craig (born 1949) is an American Christian apologist, analytic philosopher, and philosophical theologian. Craig is known for his criticism of metaphysical naturalism and New Atheism and also as a defender of Reformed epistemology. His work is known especially for the philosophy of the existence of God and the defense of Christian theism. He has authored or edited over thirty books, including “The Kalam Cosmological Argument”, “Assessing the New Testament Evidence for the Historicity of the Resurrection of Jesus”, “Divine Foreknowledge and Human Freedom”, “Theism, Atheism and Big Bang Cosmology”, “Einstein, Relativity and Absolute Simultaneity”, and “God, Time and Eternity”. Craig has also written over a hundred articles in professional journals of philosophy and theology.
